I am Dr. Jitu Solanki, a wildlife naturalist, birding guide, and conservationist based in Bikaner, Rajasthan. For the past 20+ years, I have dedicated my life to exploring, studying, and protecting the unique ecosystems of the Thar Desert, with a special focus on raptors and desert biodiversity.

My journey into wildlife began during my childhood, wandering the arid landscapes around my home. Fascinated by the resilience of desert life, I pursued my passion academically, completing my doctorate in zoology. Over the years, my experiences have transformed into a lifelong mission to protect and showcase the incredible wildlife of Rajasthan.

Today, I serve as the Secretary of the Bikaner Bird Club, where we work actively to promote bird conservation, ,Bird RESCUE, research, and awareness. I am also a recognized expert on the raptor congregations at places like Jorbeer Conservation Reserve, Tal Chhapar, Khichan, and Desert National Park in Jaisalmer. Visitors and researchers often call me the “Raptor Man of Rajasthan” for my deep knowledge and field experience with birds of prey.

Through my work, I have collaborated with esteemed institutions like the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) and Rajasthan’s Forest and Wildlife Department. My field insights have supported several scientific studies and conservation initiatives focused on raptors and scavengers like vultures and eagles.
Alongside guiding researchers, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts from around the world, I actively document and share the wonders of desert life through social media and educational programs. I am passionate about connecting people with nature, educating visitors, and preserving Rajasthan’s fragile wildlife heritage through research, collaboration, and storytelling.
